This past week has been packed with milestones both personal and professional. As I sit here reflecting, I feel grateful, proud, and just a little bit tired!

It began with the first of September, a fresh start.

Then came the first day back at school for my boys with Harri starting sixth form and stepping into A Levels.

It was also the first ever week of The Thrive Tribe, our new online community for women who want to stay fit, strong, and independent as they age. We kicked it off with our first live online class which focussed on mobility and stretches for better posture.

Thursday brought the first in-person classes of September after the summer break, including my first ever men’s only class at 8:15pm. Across three classes that evening, I taught 26 people in person – a wonderful return to Llanblethian Hall.

The weekend was all about sport and movement too: my sons played their first cup & league football matches of the season, and I took part in my first run event of the year – the Cardiff 10k. It was also my first race with my social running group, The Cowbridge Moovers, and to top it all off, I ran my first sub-55-minute 10k with a new personal best of 24:20! (Not bad for 48 – it must be all the strength training 😉)

Wow! What a week.

Here’s what I’ve noticed: firsts are always a little nerve-wracking. They push us outside our comfort zones and raise our energy, but once that first step is taken, the nerves settle and we can enjoy the journey.

So if you’re facing a first right now, whatever it may be – remember this:

👉 You can do it.

👉 Be brave.

👉 Take the step.

You’ve got this. 💫

What firsts have you had recently? I’d love to hear about them in the comments.
